The Fraser Board of Trustees passed Resolution 2023-10-05 to authorize Fraser’s town manager to enter a contract with the American Ramp Company to construct a bike park at Cozens Ranch Open Space, near the Lions Ponds.
At the board’s Oct. 18 regular meeting, assistant town manager Sarah Catanzarite explained American Ramp Company excels at taking a community-centered approach to bike park construction.
American Ramp Company will come in person and meet with interested stakeholders to discuss what features people would like to see at the park. They typically create an online survey and community members vote on potential designs for the bike park.
Elliot Leslie, a local trail builder, addressed the Fraser Board of Trustees.
“Everything they’ve done has been super high-quality,” Leslie said.
Skinny Traffic Trails, Leslie’s trail-building company, looks forward to assisting American Ramp Company on the bike park project.
American Ramp Company built the Granby skate park and has constructed other bike parks in Berthoud, Firestone, and Estes Park.
Maire Sullivan from the Headwaters Trail Alliance also addressed the board.
“Of the resort communities in this Colorado corridor we are one of the few that don’t have a bike park,” Sullivan explained.
Sullivan is excited about a bike park for Fraser and explained they are super popular, especially among younger bikers. According to Sullivan, people have been asking the Headwaters Trail Alliance to build a bike park for years.
The Headwaters Trail Alliance has been focused on getting the Fraser Valley’s trail system up to par and hasn’t had the chance to build a bike park.
