Granby Recreation Department opens registration for axe-throwing, karate and holiday day camps

Granby Recreation Department is hosting the following leagues, classes and day camps.

Axe throwing

An adult axe-throwing league will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursdays from Jan. 16 to March 6 at Troublesome Tomahawks in Granby. The cost is $150 per person, which includes an end-of-season tournament, according to a news release from the Granby Recreation Department.

League play is individual, and each player will have four 10-minute games each night. There will be an open-throw night and league meeting from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Jan. 9 for $10.

Karate

The Granby Recreation Department and Shihan Ken Crossman are offering karate classes for children as young as 7 through adults on Thursdays and Saturdays at the Granby Community Center.



The next session begins Jan. 2. The cost is $195 to $225 for a three-month membership, $370 to $425 for a six-month membership, and $585 to $675 for an annual membership.

Holiday day camps

The Granby Recreation Department’s upcoming day camp activities include the following:

  • Dec. 20: ice skating and swimming
  • Dec. 23: a holiday party and sledding
  • Dec. 27: science, bowling and a movie
  • Dec. 30: Grand Park Recreation Center
  • Jan. 2: cross-country skiing and a sleigh ride
  • Jan. 3: ice skating and a movie

All day trips are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and meet at the Granby Community Building. The cost is $40, and registration is required. Call 970-887-3961 to sign up.
