During the Grand County Board of Commissioners meeting Jan. 14, Grand County Court Judge Nicholas Catanzarite administered the oath office to Commissioners Merrit Linke and Ed Raegner. Voters elected Linke and Raegner in November.
Linke was reelected to represent District 2. At the meeting, he was recognized for his 12 years of service as a commissioner. After his first term in 2012, Linke was reelected in 2016 and 2020. Linke, who is from a fifth-generation ranching family, also serves as vice president of the Middle Park Stockgrowers Association and sits on the executive committee of Club 20.
Raegner, who was elected to his first term, will represent District 1. At the Jan. 14 meeting, staff appointed him as Grand County’s representative to the Winter Park Transit Advisory Committee and Winter Park Urban Renewal Authority. Raegner is the owner of R&J Liquors in Granby and the school board president of East Grand School District. He joined the board in 2016 and has served as president since 2019. Raegner replaces outgoing commissioner Rich Cimino, who has a new role as executive director of Peak Health Alliance.
Linke and Raegner will serve four-year terms. Commissioner Randy George’s term ends in 2026 for District 3. Commissioners have selected George as chair of the board of commissioners. George is the owner of Latigo guest ranch in Kremmling.
