Grand County Tourism Board awards $492,000 in grants to local nonprofit organizations for marketing

The Grand County Colorado Tourism Board has awarded $492,384 in grants to local nonprofit organizations.
Nonprofits are required to use the grants for marketing efforts, which include brochures, event promotion and advertising in newspapers, radio or other media platforms, according to Executive Director Gaylene Ore. The grants can also be used for producing posters in addition to website building or maintenance.
The tourism board’s president, Joanna Whitemarsh, said the grants contribute to the vitality of the county.
“Through these grants, we aim to boost tourism, support our local economy, and highlight the rich culture and natural beauty that make Grand County special,” Whitemarsh said.
Grant recipients include:
- Grand Lake Chamber, $176,084
- Grand County Library District, $980
- Fraser Valley Arts, $10,000
- Town of Fraser Fire and Ice Festival, $5,000
- Shining Stars Foundation, $7,500
- Winter Park and Fraser Chamber, $100,000
- Kremmling Chamber of Commerce, $35,000
- Destination Granby, $139,320
- Hot Sulphur Springs Chamber, $18,500
These grants are awarded four times a year to eligible organizations. Organizations can learn more about the grant process at VisitGrandCounty.com.
The Grand County Colorado Tourism board is funded through a 2% lodging tax, which is paid by visitors staying in lodging properties across the county, excluding Winter Park.
