The Headwaters Center is inviting community members to attend its annual Earth Day celebration from 5-7:30 p.m. Friday, April 18. The free, family-friendly event gives attendees the opportunity to learn about environmental conservation and support local sustainability efforts.

This year’s event will feature a screening of “Sam & Me,” a short documentary that follows a 13-year-old boy as he turns his struggle with climate anxiety into advocacy. The event also features a booth fair highlighting various local organizations as well as opportunities for the community to share their experience and advice on addressing climate change, a news release states.

“We invite everyone to come together, connect with local organizations and discover actionable ways to protect our environment,” the release states.

The community is invited to participate in hands-on activities for all ages and gain insight on how to make a positive impact. Free food and beverages will be available courtesy of sponsors Après Eats and Big Trout Brewing.

Event schedule:

  • 5-6:15 p.m. booth fair: Explore interactive exhibits and learn from local environmental organizations.
  • 6:10-6:45 p.m. film screening: “Sam & Me: Overcoming Climate Change Anxiety and Finding Hope Through Skiing with Mike Douglas”
  • 6:45-7:30 p.m. audience participation: Share your climate experiences on interactive posters.
