Headwaters Trails Alliance receives $89,040 grant to maintain 450 miles of Grand County trails

Headwaters Trails Alliance received a grant from Colorado Parks and Wildlife to help fund trail maintenance work this summer.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s Non-Motorized Trail Grant Program recently awarded a total of $2.44 million for 26 projects across Colorado, according to a news release. The Parks and Wildlife Commission unanimously approved the grants during the March commission meeting, which took place in Denver.

The Headwaters Trails Alliance in Grand County received an $89,040 grant to fund a four- to six-person trail crew that maintains 450 miles of trails in Grand County. The crew will focus on assessing and addressing deadfall and drainage issues in addition to trail planning, drainage cleaning and repair, new construction of turnpikes or boardwalks, retread, regrading, outsloping, decommissioning, restoration and hazard tree clearing, according to the release.
