No one caught in skier-triggered avalanche on Berthoud Pass
Officials initially thought that people were caught in an avalanche that occurred on Saturday, Dec. 14 near No Name Bench on Berthoud Pass. However, it was determined that nobody was trapped, according to the Clear Creek Sheriff’s Office.
Grand County emergency responders assisted Clear Creek County and the Alpine Rescue Team with the response, according to the Grand County Sheriff’s Office.
A field report by Brandon Goldstein writes that the avalanche appeared to be a soft slab avalanche on the northeast aspect of No Name peak. A skier triggered the avalanche, according to the report.
