Skiers and snowboarders can grab their funkiest costumes for the 10th annual Retro Shred-A-Thon at Winter Park Resort. The event Saturday, April 19, benefits the High Fives Foundation.
The foundation states in a news release that it invites the community to “embrace the throwback style and raise vital funds for adaptive athletes and veterans.”
Participants — who need raise at least $150 in pledges through family, friends and coworkers — can hit the slopes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. along with members of the foundation.
The goal is to raise $60,000 this year. High Fives will match all funds raised by participants. The organization states that “every dollar raised makes a difference in helping injured outdoor athletes recover and thrive.”
In addition to supporting athletes, participants can also win prizes based on their fundraising levels or by winning contests. There will be a vendor village at the base as well as an après-ski awards ceremony.
