Winter Park Town Council annexes land
Special for Sky-Hi News
Winter Park Town Council approved the annexation of the Connor-Bertron addition at its Nov. 19 meeting. The almost 4-acre parcel, located southwest of town, will be annexed into Winter Park with plans to use it for single-family housing.
The parcel fits the criteria for Winter Park’s Three Mile Area Plan, which allows for the annexation of unincorporated land within 3 miles of the town’s municipal boundary. The council heard the second reading of the annexation proposal at the meeting, and after opening the floor for public comment, unanimously approved it.
The town council also unanimously approved the 2025 budget at the Nov. 19 meeting. The topic was opened for public comment at both the Nov. 5 and Nov. 19 meetings. No public comment was received.
In other budget news, a discrepancy in this year’s budget was amended, correcting an accounting error that understated sales tax revenue from this year. Winter Park typically conducts these annual reviews, occasionally finding errors and amending them during council meetings.
Other matters of business at the Council’s previous two meetings included:
- A mobile vending permit for Mary’s Mountain Cookies
- Special event permits for Turkey Trot, Reindeer Run, Deck the Slopes at Winter Park Resort and New Year’s Eve Celebration at Hideaway Park
- Approval for the GreyEdge Group, a geothermal energy company partnering with the town, to conduct a study on the feasibility of implementing geothermal systems in Winter Park.
