Why am I here today? Why am I here asking for your support for a final term as Grand County commissioner in District 2?

First, it’s not about me. It’s about what you, the citizens, businesses and community members of Grand County think is the best leadership for Grand County. What experience, abilities and skills will provide the best solutions to problems and ensure the best future for Grand County?

Second, if you would’ve asked me for even a year ago if I was going to be running for this term I probably would’ve given you a different answer.

Why is that? New information presents itself. Things change and good decisions should always be based on the most current and accurate information. What has changed in the last four years?  Everything from COVID and it’s challenges that still linger, to inflation, unprecedented property taxes and the East Troublesome Fire. All these things combined have led to housing shortages, lack of child care and mental health challenges.

We now have wolves on the landscape, intense water negotiations, ongoing fire recovery, and the threat of another devastating fire. These issues and the last three Ws (water, wolves and wildfire) require thoughtful collaboration, powerful advocacy and respectful leadership to ensure the best possible future for Grand County. We need continuity to get us through this chapter.

Lastly, experienced leadership on the Grand County Board of County Commissioners. When I started as a county commissioner, there was 22 years of combined experience on the board. I attended every single county commissioner meeting for almost a full year prior to being sworn in. Even after all that, I never knew how much I didn’t know until I was sitting on the other side of that table. Experience matters. Leadership matters. Connections make a difference.

Just three campaign promises:

  1. I will not run a negative campaign; Grand County deserves better, and voters should not be forced to choose between the least worst. Local government accountability matters.
  2. I will continue to be dedicated to Grand County, listen to our citizens and do my best to provide solutions for the best possible future for the community.
  3. I will continue to advocate for Grand County in every possible forum, board or organization that I serve on.

I’m asking for your vote in November.

Vote Linke for commissioner, thank you!
